Introduction
Welcome to our bi-weekly update, where we share all the exciting stuff happening behind the scenes here at BNB Chain. We’re excited to keep you in the loop about the latest features we’re cooking up for our core chain.
Latest Release and Upgrade
Harber hardfork of BSC and opBNB has been effective on June 20th 2024, it is a milestone of BNBChain as it enabled the blob-carrying transaction on BSC, and opBNB DA has been switched from the calldata to blob on the BSC. The opBNB cost has reduced more than 90%, which makes the opBNB the most affordable L2.
Second Sunset hardfork of Beacon chain will happen on July 14th, 2024, which will trigger the auto-refund for BNB Beacon Chain delegations. It is a milestone for the BC Fusion initiative. If you have not migrated your delegations from BNB Beacon Chain to the BNB Smart chain, please follow the steps here to migrate ASAP.
Veld-greenfield upgrade will happen on July 8th, 2024, which will include the bug fixes for better user experience
BEP Under Discussion:
BNB Smart Chain
Two BEPs (BNB Enhancement Proposals) are causing hot discussions, and both are all about boosting the capacity of the BSC network. 
Everyone in our community – holders, validators, and users alike – has a voice in how the BNB Chain evolves. The community calls in the coming weeks to dive deep into these BEPs and hear what you have to say.
Current Development Progress:
BNB Smart Chain
- Reth support of BSC is under development, the current progress is going well. It is another client to enhance the decentralization of the BNBChain client.
- PBS(Proposer Builder Separation) has been implemented in the BNBChain ecosystem, and developers can find the builder and validator information in the MEV github repo. Wallets, trade bots and searchers can start using the builder API to have your transactions protected from the MEV attacks.
opBNB
- opBNB tech stack has implemented the customized gas solutions for L2 on the BSC, it will allow L2s on the BSC to use any BEP20 token as gas token.
BNB Greenfield
- BNB Greenfield keeps focusing on the user experience and storage provider efficiency. The following bugs have been fixed
#621 fix: add bucket status to bucket migration related events
#625 fix: discontinued bucket can’t be migrated
#626 fix: principal value supports group name
#632 fix: ignore register channel error
- BNB Greenfield provides the archive blob storage proxy service.
BNBChain Community
