:wave: Welcome to our bi-weekly update from BNB Chain! We’re thrilled to share the latest developments and exciting features the community is working on behind the scenes to enhance our BNBChain network.

Latest Release and Upgrade

Passed Hardfork

Veld-greenfield upgrade has been enabled on July 8th, 2024, which included the bug fixes for better user experience

Second Sunset hardfork of Beacon chain has happened on July 14th, 2024, which will trigger the auto-refund for BNB Beacon Chain delegations. It is a milestone for the BC Fusion initiative.

BEP Under Discussion:

BNB Smart Chain

The community also proposed two new BEPs, which keeps improving the BSC block production and validation.

  • BEP-402 - Complete missing fields in Block Header to generate signature
  • BEP-404 - Clear Miner History when Switching Validators Set

For the BEP 341 and BEP396, the community has received some feedback, and also the discussion has been summarized as FAQs. We will have community calls to discuss these BEPs.

  • BEP 341 - Validators can produce consecutive blocks
  • BEP-396 - Accelerate Block Execution by TxDAG

Current Development Progress:

BNB Smart Chain

  • Our community developer NodeReal is testing BSC client Erigon v3, and the results are promising: the storage requirements for a BSC archive node could potentially be reduced by 500 GB, from 1 TB to just 500 GB. Github repo: GitHub - node-real/bsc-erigon at erigon3

opBNB

  • opBNB has implemented the auto-switch DA function to save cost of L2 transactions, and also contribute the code to OPStack, PR.

BNB Greenfield

A new tutorial is released to demonstrate BNB Greenfield’s ability for a contract to manage buckets through greenfield cross-chain transactions.
